WISC vs ND Betting Preview
The Irish lost their season opener to Miami last season, and followed that up with sloppy home loss to Texas A&M. They finished the season winning their final 10 games, but did not qualify for the College Football Playoffs.
They come into 2026 looking for redemption, and they are a heavy favorite to make the playoffs. Their regular season win total is priced at 11.5, meaning they are expected to run the table and win all 12 games.
The Badgers are not expected to get a sniff of the playoffs, and coach Fickell is on the hot seat. They might be a dangerous opponent and a team that you don’t want to look past if you are Notre Dame.
This game will be played at Lambeau Field, giving an element of a home crowd for the Badgers.

Wisconsin Betting Preview
- Head coach: Luke Fickell
- Offensive coordinator: Jeff Grimes
- Defensive coordinator: Mike Tressel
- 4-8 Overall in 2025
- 2-7 in the BIG10 in 2025
- 6-6 ATS in 2025
The Cincinnati Bearcats made the College Football Playoffs in 2021, becoming the first Group of Five team to qualify in the four team playoff era. That put head coach Luke Fickell on the map, making him the most sought after coach in the country.
The Wisconsin Badgers signed Fickell to a seven year contract at almost $8,000,000 per year in November of 2022. With a record of just 17-21 in his first three seasons, it’s fair to say he is on the hot seat. To be fair to Fickell, his starting quarterback missed 26 of 38 games during his first three seasons.
The Badgers bring in a transfer quarterback in Colton Joseph from Old Dominion. He had a solid season in the Sun Belt last year, and if he can stay healthy the Badgers might outperform their projected season win total of 6.5.
Notre Dame Betting Preview
- Head coach: Marcus Freeman
- Offensive coordinator: Mike Denbrock
- Defensive coordinator: Chris Ash
- 10-2 Overall in 2025
- 6-6 ATS in 2025
Everybody’s high on Notre Dame this year, including Phil Steele who has them ranked #1 in the country. They have another favorable schedule, and will likely be favoured in every game.
While they lost not one but two star running backs to the NFL draft, they should have a better receiving corps for quarterback CJ Carr. He will be playing behind one of the top offensive lines in the country, and handing off to a pair of very capable running backs.
The defense is also loaded with returning talent from a squad that ranked top 10 last season.
Relevant Trends:
- Notre Dame is 10-0 in their last 10 overall.
- Wisconsin is 2-8 in their last 10 overall.
- The Under is 9-1 in Wisconsin’s last 10 overall.
- Wisconsin is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 overall.
- Notre Dame is 8-2-1 ATA in their last 13 vs ranked teams.
PREDICTION: Wisconsin 17 – Notre Dame 31
While the Irish are undoubtedly the better team, it is worth pointing out that Marcus Freeman has lost three games as a double digit favorite since 2022. Losses to Marshall, Stanford in 2022 and then a shocking 16-14 loss as a 28.5 point favorite versus Northern Illinois back in 2024. We fully expect the Irish to take care of business here in Week 1, but we don’t have them covering the spread.
