Preview
The Coach Prime Era enters year three in Boulder, and whatever happens this season there is no doubt that Deion Sanders has changed the landscape for the Colorado football program. It took just two seasons to go from 1-11 to 9-4.
The Buffaloes open the season as a home underdog versus Georgia Tech, and this is a role that Deion has thrived in. Brent Key is also entering his third season as head coach of the Yellowjackets, but unlike Deion he brings back almost all of his starters including his quarterback and leading rusher.

Georgia Tech
- 7-6 Overall in 2024
- 5-3 in the ACC in 2024
- 6-6-1 ATS in 2024
Last season began in Ireland, with an upset win over Florida State. The Yellow Jackets won seven of 10 regular season games when starting quarterback Haynes King played. One of those losses came in eight overtimes at Georgia.
Colorado
- 9-4 Overall in 2024
- 7-2 in the BIG12 in 2024
- 9-4 ATS in 2024
The Buffaloes have to replace the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, who was a star on both sides of the ball, and the leading passer in the BIG12 last season. Making things even more complicated, Coach prime missed time due to health issues and it remains uncertain how serious this might be.
They brought in quarterback Kaidon Salter from Liberty, and he threw for 1,886 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions last season. He threw for 2,876 yards, 32 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2023. He might find the BIG12 to be a tougher challenge than the Conference USA.
The Buffaloes rank 89th nationally with 50 percent returning production from last year.

PREDICTION: COL 17 – GT 37
The Buffaloes have too many questions to answer, and with the health of Coach Prime up in the air things could go sideways in Boulder this season. Georgia Tech is primed to have a breakout season, and they should run all over this Colorado defense in Week 1.
