907. Colorado Rockies vs 908. New York Yankees

Take: 907. Rockies/Yankees OVER 8.5

I’m taking the Over in this game between Colorado and the New York Yankees. Colorado looks to start Ryan Feltner. Feltner is 5-9 with a 5.91 ERA and 1.58 WHIP, which isn’t good enough to keep a job in the best of circumstances. He has a 5.36 ERA away from Coors Field, but more importantly has allowed 19 home runs in 106.2 innings. Against a Yankees lineup that can do major damage with the lumber, Feltner at Yankee Stadium is a major concern.

The Yankees havet 11 runs in the first two games of this series, taking Tuesday’s contest 5-3 before putting up six runs on Wednesday. Aaron Judge is back off the IL, but Luis García Jr., Cody Bellinger and rookie George Lombard Jr. have all contributed power. Lombard has a grand slam to help New York reach five runs against Colorado by the third inning on Wednesday.

Max Fried is obviously standing in the way of this total reaching the over, but the Rockies have hit left-handed pitching fairly well away from Coors recently, posting a .763 OPS against southpaws in their last 30 days. Guys like Hunter Goodman, Connor Norby and the Rockies’ right-handed bats give Colorado a chance to put up two or three runs of their own against a quality starter.

The problem is New York might not need that many. Facing Feltner and a Colorado staff that carries a 5.47 team ERA, the Yankees should be able to score six or seven runs by themselves. I see at least 10 runs crossing the plate in this one.

The 49ers-Rams UNDER lines up perfectly with how I see Thursday night’s Week 1 game shaking out. Yes there is plenty of offensive firepower on both sides of the ball, but this is going to be one of the strangest season openers we have ever seen.

The game is being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. Kickoff won’t happen until 10:35 a.m. Friday local time. Each team is dealing with about 8,000 miles of travel and a crazy time-zone change, so there is every reason to think this could be sloppy/offensive slow to start.

The Rams improved defense is another huge Under angle. The Rams brought in reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, coaxed Aaron Donald out of retirement and added cornerback Trent McDuffie. They should have a legit pass rush that forces Brock Purdy into easier throws while forcing San Francisco to sustain long drives instead of relying on big plays.

Kyle Shanahan’s offense has question marks too. Christian McCaffrey was limited during Monday’s practice and missed a lot of practice during the preseason, while George Kittle also missed time with an injury during the preseason. Even if both players suit up healthy, Shanahan’s best game plan might be to lean on McCaffrey, short passing concepts and the run to control possession against Matthew Stafford. The more the Rams defense is on the field, the less the Rams’ offense will threaten.

Los Angeles might be impacted by travel even more than San Francisco. The 49ers arrived in Australia nearly a week before kickoff to get used to the time change. The Rams didn’t plan to arrive until about 36 hours before kickoff. It makes sense from a body-clock standpoint, but it also increases the risk of travel fatigue and slows down their offense early.

San Francisco will probably try to shorten this game as much as possible while Los Angeles brings one of the most improved defenses into the 2026 season. I just don’t see them topping that number with how weird Week 1 is shaping up in Australia. Take the UNDER here on Thursday.
