Free Play – Take #104 Seattle -2 over Denver (8:15 p.m. ET, Thursday, October 15)

There was a presumption that Seattle and Denver would both come back to pack after excellent seasons a year ago. That has proven to be true to this point of the season. The Seahawks are built to be a run-first team, but that hasn’t worked out for a variety of reasons, with them #17 in that category. This has led to more mistakes by Sam Darnold, who thrives in the play-action game and not nearly as well when forced to just throw. Bo Nix was fantastic last year, and the addition of Jalen Waddle was supposed to open up the Denver passing offense. Unfortunately, Nix’s decision-making is not seeing the field as well this year, passing up easy completions while making poor decisions in the run-option game. Seattle’s defense is #1 in total defense and #8 in points surrendered, while the Broncos have slid to #22 and #13, respectively, in those same two areas. I’ll give the points Denver ravaged with injuries in the secondary, while knowing the Seahawks are 10-1 ATS after playing at home and 7-0 ATS as a road favorite of seven points or less.

Off to an impressive start, the Golden Knights can build more momentum with a three-game homestand that begins Thursday against last-place Calgary. Vegas has won five of their past six games and sits atop the Pacific Division. The Flames won their first game of the season the last time out, but it was the second of two against Anaheim, having the revenge angle. Calgary comes to Sin City with the worst defense in the NHL and is next to last in scoring. If VGK want to, they win easily. Note; Vegas is 8-0 in home games on the PL against teams outscored by 0.65+ GAG.

Both these Sun Belters enter this matchup with 2-4 records, yet they feel miles apart. Georgia Southern is 5-1 ATS, with Old Dominion 1-5 ATS. The Monarchs' offense is a big contributor to their shortcomings at only 18.2 PPG, plus they are #137 in total offense (next to last) at only 266 YPG. Conversely, Miami is #1 in total offense and more than doubles that total (554). Georgia Southern is no offensive juggernaut at 24.7 PPG. However, they should be much better as they average 395 YPG, but are just #109 in YPPT. The Eagles covered against Clemson and Houston, while doing the same against unbeaten James Madison last Saturday, losing by only three points. GS has been a favorite twice, covering both, and they have beaten the spread, dishing out points seven straight times. Make it #8.
