Tran’s “Take It Or Toss It” – Top Sports Betting NHL Trends For April 7, 2016

There’s no doubt that betting on sports is a tricky business, but there are plenty of tools that professional handicappers use to give them an added edge over the bookmaker. Some guys like to focus on situational handicapping, while others might use a contrarian approach.

Ricky Tran is primarily a “numbers guy”, with a keen eye for exploiting relevant trends and statistics. Ricky will tell you that finding hot trends is the easy part, the hard part is figuring out which of those trends to use, and which to ignore. Here are a few NHL games that Ricky is looking at today:

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New Jersey Devils
Under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings.

Both teams are on some serious under trends with the under going  3-1-1 in Lightning last 5 overall and 6-0-2 in Devils last 8 overall. New Jersey is scoring just 2.15 goals per game home at Prudential Center this season and Tampa Bay 2.59 on the road. Ricky Says: TAKE IT!

New York Islanders vs. New York Rangers
Islanders are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings at Madison Square Garden.

Not only a rivalry game, but the Islanders can go up on equal points with the Rangers for third place in the division with a win, and still have a game in hand. The Islanders have won both meetings this season, but the Rangers should take this one down. Ricky Says: TOSS IT!

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals
Penguins are 7-0 in their last 7 road games.

The red hot Penguins, winners of a season-high seven in a row and 13 of 14 vs. the NHL-best Capitals. Sidney Crosby is on fire riding a seven-game point streak (four goals, four assists) and he has recorded 54 points (18 goals, 36 assists) in 37 career meetings with the Caps. Pittsburgh attempting to clinch home-ice advantage for its first-round playoff series while Washington has little to play for. Ricky Says: TAKE IT!
