Mets vs Diamondbacks MLB Free Pick May 17, 2017
I’ll take the D’Backs at home versus the Mets Wednesday afternoon. The Mets are stinking it up lately, coming into this game as losers of six straight. They are still without slugger Yoenis Cespedes, as well as shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and catcher Travis d’Arnaud. Matt Harvey is still a big name that seems to command a little respect from bookmakers, but the “Dark Knight” has gone winless in his last five starts.
Harvey has struggled with his command, walking a total of 13 batters over 14 2/3 innings in his last three appearances. He’s been hit pretty hard in those games, giving up 17 runs on 20 hits. Five of those hits left the ballpark, and he’s already given up 10 home runs this season. That could spell trouble here in a hitters park in Arizona.
Patrick Corbin is scheduled to go for the Diamondbacks, and he’s looking pretty good so far in 2017. Corbin has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, but was once considered Arizona’s ace. He’s looked like an ace at home this year, going 3-1 with a 2.45 ERA in five starts.
The Mets bullpen has been one of the worst in the majors this season. New York’s relievers own a rather swollen 5.26 ERA, which is even worse than it sounds when you consider they play half their games at pitcher friendly Citi Field.
Good Luck ….
