Toronto Blue Jays vs. Seattle Mariners
Take Toronto Blue Jays (-112)
By Scott Spreitzer
I’m backing the Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon. Aaron Sanchez developed a blister his last start on Sept. 11 and had a rough outing against Boston but the right-hander still is 13-2 on the season and 8-1 with a 2.62 ERA on the road.
Sanchez will face Seattle for the first time this season and he was 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA against the Mariners in 8 2/3 innings pitched in 2015. Toronto has won the first two games of this series after suffering a mini-slump that endangered its chances for a wild card spot.
Seattle has lost four of its last five after winning eight straight. Felix Hernandez has not been the King Felix we’ve come to know as he has given up six runs in three of his last four starts. The Mariners lost 6-0 to Houston on Friday when Hernandez surrendered six runs (five earned) and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. His September ERA is 6.19 and his ERA at Safeco Field this season is 4.10. We’ll back the Jays to gain the sweep.
I’m backing Toronto on Wednesday afternoon.
Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
